About the Owners!
As well as being joint owner of Woodlands with Steve, Lesley is a health and fitness professional and is a fully qualified personal trainer and sports massage therapist. (Her claim to fame is that Ringo Starr and Mike Rutherford numbered among her many clients!)
She is also passionate about healthy eating and, as an independent Natural Juice Therapist, encourages and demonstrates to people how to include nutritious juices and smoothies as part of a healthy lifestyle. This is why the highly acclaimed Woodlands breakfast menu (check it out!) is no ordinary B&B affair.... it is bursting with healthy, vibrant alternative options including Lesley’s famous “Woodlands Supergreen Smoothie” made fresh every day from organic raw vegetables and fruit (drink your 5 a day in a glass!)
Lesley is also a keen hiker and Nordic Walker instructor and is very knowledgeable about the fantastic local Exmoor walks, so whatever type or length of walk you are looking for be it coastal, river, woodland or moorland (or a combination of all!), ask Lesley and she will find the perfect walk for you and massage your aching muscles afterwards!
We are also very proud Grandparents!
Steve by his own admission is a splendid fellow. Of senior years he has learned the art of humility.
Having graduated from Newcastle Uni in the late '70s he joined Esso Petroleum where he stayed for 10 years. He learned many things but most importantly, that inner happiness was the key to success. In the early 90's, self-employment beckoned and he started a residential letting agency in the Surrey - Sussex area which became successful. After 20 years, Steve decided to sell his Company and semi-retired to spend more time sailing the seas.
He and Lesley moved to Devon to fulfil many ambitions and elected to make Woodlands the base for the latest chapter in their long and loving relationship.
He is a very keen cook to the point of being a frustrated restauranteur, loves to be outdoors trekking Exmoor and relaxes by trying to paint with oils and acrylics. Occasionally he visits the local pub too. He loves running Woodlands with Lesley and is always happy to greet new and returning guests.
In conclusion, no one knows better than Steve just how lucky his life has been and continues to be.
